Menopause
At the age of 47 I entered the first stage of menopause, called perimenopause.
I’ll never forget the day the penny dropped and I realized I wasn’t losing my mind, but that my unusual and in some cases, uncomfortable symptoms, were due to mid life hormonal changes.
I remember reading a list of the top 31 most recognised perimenopause symptoms in a book that a friend had given me and being able to check off 28 of them, right there and then!
It was such a relief to learn that what I was experiencing was a normal part of a womans journey and that I wasn’t alone.
It was a pivotal moment, personally and professionally.
I realised that although I knew a lot about what it took to thrive and had already helped many women to do so during my health coaching career, I was going to need to go back to school, this was unchartered territory for me.
Living as an expat, I didn’t have proper access to specialised medication like hormone replacement therapy (HRT) and so I looked to the Eastern principles of Yoga and Ayurveda, as well as modern science for answers and in 2016 I began coaching my unique signature system for managing menopause naturally.
Today, 7 years after peri menopause began, I’m preparing to pivot again, as I enter the post menopause phase of life.
Like all women who make this natural transition, I have some battle scars to remind me of how strong and resilient I am and how truly miraculous the human body is.
I can honestly say that I have never felt more empowered, present or connected to my SELF, physically, emotionally or spiritually.
And I feel like I’m just getting started.
